    'My busy life' by DEREK TWITCHETT -

    Being a Pioneer means being busy!
    Every month I do loads of activities in the Community, as well as attending Pioneers meetings.
    The week starts with a visit to Pioneers drop In on Monday morning at All Saints Church, where a group of us meet to have tea and a chat, perhaps we’ll play darts or other games.
    Wednesday morning, I help out at W H Smith.

    Recently Maldon District Council’s Community Safety Officer, Ali Burlington visited the Tesco store in Maldon to ask if they would help with a ‘clean up’ of the streets and the canal in Maldon. This would be part of a bigger project that would cover the whole Maldon District.

    _“On Wednesday 19th August a number of us had a BBQ at the home of the Garrett family, it was nice to see Maria too. This was part the our summer scheme. We must say thank you to Peter, Mike and Luke who were the cook’s. well done to Chris for winning the hamper, Stan for guess name of the bear and Trudy our jenger competition. Thank you Tony for organising a fabulous summer scheme. I would like to finish by just remembering our dear friend Susan, my thoughts are with her mum and family

    Many of you will have already volunteered to act as support worker the Pioneers on the forthcoming trip. I just wanted to confirm the arrangement for this years trip which was very much enjoyed by all who came last years. Its a chance for Pioneers, friends and family to socialise while sailing down the River Blackwater.

    Presentation by Trevor Enefer Chairman of Maldon Promenaders to the MaldonPioneers of Cheque for £500 as one of their two charities of 2014. Attending the yearly show is one of the highlights for the Pioneers who make for an enthusiastic audience for the performers. A huge thank you to the Promenaders for supporting us this year.

    The Essex Victims Gateway

    The Maldon Pioneers are passionate about passing on initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable adults in our community. The Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Essex has launched a new website, the Essex Victims Gateway. The website aims to offer an online facility whereby a victim of a crime – who may or may not have reported the offence to police – can go to get direct access to locally based and relevant support.

    The Pioneers are looking forward to the activities of 2015. January has kicked off with a trip to see Paddington at the Cinema and we also have the Panto to look forward to.
